Depending on what type of action and atmosphere players are experiencing, the banter between the characters will change reflexively. The dialogue system in GTFO is fluid and dynamic.

When you first launch GTFO, you're presented with "The Rundown." This is the work order that The Warden has tasked you - its prisoners - with.Įach Rundown is a work order from The Warden for the prisoners to complete.GTFO is about a team of four people trapped in an underground Complex, kept there against their will, forced down into the depths to carry out different objectives for this unknown entity called the Warden. The Warden, an entity that forces the prisoners to complete their work orders, commonly known as rundowns. In order to unlock them, a certain amount of players must complete the previous levels. Some levels within a tier, or an entire tier can be encrypted through Warden Restriction, and are thus not available for the players. The Warden has discovered an unexplored section of The Complex - and so, the Rundown 004 / Contact has been extended to include four new deadly expeditions. Instead of replacing the current expeditions like a new Rundown would, Extensions add additional content to the active Rundown. Starting with Rundown 004, Rundowns could receive an "Extension". This began with the release of ALT://Rundown 1.0, which is an updated version of Rundown 001. While the original release of the Rundowns will continue to be unavailable to play, they will be available in their alternate versions. The developers have committed to continuing with this trend, so the number of expeditions available to the players will only grow from now.įurthermore, the developers have indicated that they will be re-releasing all of the previous Rundowns in an updated form. Now, as of the release of ALT://Rundown 1.0, Rundowns will no longer replace the previous Rundowns, meaning that Rundown 7.0 is still available to play. Once these Rundowns were gone, they were completely gone, which means that you cannot replay the expeditions of the former Rundowns. 
Every single Rundown was different, and once the counter reached zero, a brand new Rundown would take its place. For example, some lasted two months, and had several missions, while another Rundown was smaller and replaced within a couple of weeks. Previously, each Rundown had a different time limit, and was only available for a set period of time. The deeper you go, the harder the expeditions get. The Rundown is divided into different tiers where expeditions in the lower part of the screen take place deeper within the Complex. For example, an expedition closer to the surface, on the first tier (A) would be much easier compared to an expedition on the third tier (C), and so on. Each tier of difficulty is given a letter, A, B, C, D, and E, with A being the easiest and E the hardest. The Rundowns have a number of expeditions over five tiers, each getting progressively harder the deeper in the Complex they take place in.
